A rear master cylinder is a hydraulic component in motorcycles, ATVs, and some vehicles that converts mechanical pressure from a foot pedal or lever into hydraulic pressure. It forces brake fluid through lines to the rear caliper, enabling stopping power. It consists of a reservoir, piston, and cylinder bore.
